Born Beautiful story @thediepone

Tell us about yourself in 50 words or less. We want to know one or two things that you'd want someone to know about you?

I think I have too many hobbies. I like programming, making videos, electronics, makeup, drawing, AutoCAD, and other random things. During the day, I work as a game programmer. I just started a month ago, so I'm very new. It might be a phase but I feel unconfident in myself. I feel like I never know what I'm doing, but I hope this feeling will pass once I put more hours into my job and my field. But that means I have to give up some of my hobbies for now. That's okay because I want to improve my skills now.

What are you most grateful for in life?

I'm grateful for my parents and my wonderful bosses. My parents provide me with opportunities they never had, and it's up to me to make the most of them. My bosses are the role models I have now that I never had growing up. They care less about the conventional definitions of success, workplace, and mostly everything else. They are probably the only married couple I know who also runs a business together. Watching them diffuse their issues and still have love for each other at the end of the day has probably made my standards for men dangerously high.

Who do you find beautiful – and what makes them beautiful to you?

I can't really think of anyone right now but I really enjoyed Judy Hopps in Zootopia. Something about feeling like she's not exactly up to snuff compared to everyone else, the hard-headed will to chase her dreams, and the undying effort to better herself makes her a likeable and relateable character. I'm not going to lie; when she said that she was "a stupid bunny", I teared up a little. I think people like that, people who try hard to not complain and try harder than anyone else are the most beautiful. And, to quote Mulan, "the flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of them all."

Based on the time above, when did you realize that you were beautiful?

I think it happened when I realized that it was up to me to make a change in my life. For a long time, I was waiting around for someone to help me and be my life tutor. That didn't happen, and I realized that people don't help you until you start and fail several times. When you realize you are the one in control, you take actions to make yourself better, and then you begin to become happy, which people will notice and everyone (including yourself) will find you beautiful.

What makes you beautiful?

My favorite trait about myself is the willingness to go through whatever to become better. I hate not knowing how to do something, and I am the person who will spend time prior to learn the basics if I have time. I think being able to be the change you want to see is beautiful.

How has your idea of beauty changed over the years?

When I was younger, I thought beautiful meant physically beautiful. Now, it's evolved to having a beautiful outlook on life.

If you could go back in time and give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

I made a lot of mistakes when I was younger because I lacked confidence in myself. If I were to say one thing, I would tell myself to hang around people I wanted to become.
